9/11 Tribute SEPTEMBER 11, 2004 - NEBRASKA VS. SOUTHERN MISS. This aerial photo was taken on September 11, 2004 (9-11-04). A colored card was placed on each seat before opening the gates to Memorial Stadium. Then, during the last stanza of the National Anthem, 78,200 fans held these red, white, and blue colored cards high over their heads creating A Stars & Stripes Tribute to 9-11. Wings Over Memorial Stadium NOVEMBER 12, 2005 - NEBRASKA VS. KANSAS STATE As fans file into Memorial Stadium, four United States Air Force T-38 Talon Supersonic Jet Trainers perform a low level fly-over to salute the United States Veterans and in recognition of the 75th anniversary of Veteran's Day celebrated on November 11, 2005. Two of the pilots, Captain Todd Riddle and Captain Clint Guenther are UNL alumni. The other pilots are Captain Nick Rutgers, Captain Laurel Lee and alternate pilot Captain Michael Koenig.
